Egypt Feb 2011

I’m watching this with shock and I’m stunned. I’d like to say a lot right now about colonialism, western brainwash about “arabs”, the wrongness of supporting and turning a blind eye to dictatorship. But all that can wait. Right now I just want to say that everything I have ever, ever believed in is being fought for in Egypt today: human rights and dignity, freedom of expression, protection of the innocent, democracy and public participation in government, liberty/equality/fraternity – all of these are being fought for in Egypt today.

I watch; I wait; I hold my breath. My heart is with the brave ones in Tahrir.
